Carbon Footprint Reducers

Reducing Your Carbon Footprint One Tree at a Time.

What is a carbon footprint?

Your carbon footprint is how much carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere as a result of your daily activities.  See how Trees Help, or estimate your Carbon Footprint below.

How big is your carbon footprint?

The average U.S. citizen produces about 7.5 tons or 15000 pounds of carbon dioxide in one year.  (1)

Try adding up the numbers from some of these common carbon producing activities to see how big your carbon footprint is.

  • Driving produces about .91 pounds of carbon dioxide per mile. (2)
  • Airplanes produce about .57 pounds of carbon dioxide per person per mile.  (2)
  • About 1.3 pounds of carbon dioxide are formed to generate one kilowatt hour (kwh) of electricity.  (3)  This number varies by state. (4)
  • Natural gas produces 11.7 lbs carbon dioxide per 1000 cubic feet (1)
  • Heating oil produces 22.4 lbs carbon dioxide per gallon (1)
  • Propane produces 12.7 lbs carbon dioxide per gallon (1)
